Renaissance Kids offers its students the unique opportunity to receive instrumental instruction in piano, violin and flute by certified music professionals while in attendance at our Early Learning Centre. Children will receive their weekly private lessons in one of our dedicated music studios that will be part of upcoming, newly expanded space. By participating in this add-on feature of our program you no longer need to drive your child to other lessons on evenings and weekends, thereby increasing valuable family time together. Even students who may have begun their lessons elsewhere are welcome to transfer into our private music instruction program so that your weekly scheduling is simplified. The Arts Connection’s music division was the foundation of our company and we have been developing a love of music in young children for almost 25 years.
Piano Lessons
Our method of instruction is the Kelly Kirby Introductory Piano Program, which originated at the Royal Conservatory of Toronto over 65 years ago. It was developed by May Kelly Kirby as a foundation program that taught the fundamentals of rhythm and pitch to children ages 4-8 yrs old. The program has been taught in Canada, the U.S. and overseas and after being published for all of these years in Toronto is now owned and published by Linda Shirley, CEO of the The Arts Connection. Children love the approach of this program and develop outstanding sight reading and ear training skills as a result. We have certified Kelly Kirby Instructors on site who will engage your children in this amazing program.
Violin Lessons
In September 2012 we will be initiating a group string program as an introduction to studying the violin. The Arts Connection’s newly appointed Performing Arts Director will be teaching this program. She has recently completed her Masters Degree in Music Education in the U.S. and is excited about developing a string program with the children at Renaissance Kids.
Flute Lessons
In September 2012 we will be introducing flute lessons to children 5 and up through a Suzuki Flute Program which allows young children to play a real flute with the assistance of a Suzuki flute adapter. Our professional flute instructor will be introducing this new program to the children at Renaissance Kids in the fall.
